Video Technology

1. Why are you creating the content you're creating?  I am creating the video content to simply show that I know how to produce a video using this particular technology.

2. Who is your audience? My audience is my instructor Amy Harmsen.

3. What do you want the content to achieve? I wanted to inform my viewer of the Edge program and how to apply.

4. When and how are you going to develop the content? How is it meant to be viewed ( on a computer, tablet, smartphone, etc.)? It is going to have to be viewed via the dropbox due to the fact that I was not able to post it here on my Blog.

5. Where are you going to publish online? Evaluate why you selected this option. Compare three alternative options using a features comparison matrix and explain why this was the best choice for you. I looked up Wordpress Blog site and they were $3.95 a month were Blogger is free and I'm not going to pay for something I may not use again. It may seem cheap but it adds up and its really just a past time that I don't have much time for. Blogger was the best choice for me because it was free and it used my google account which I already had created.

Some main points to keep in mind during the shooting of your video...

1.  Be sure to know your equipment. I have used the Eflip camera in class before its very simple and user friendly. All you do is hit the red record button and its show time, once your done recording plug USB into your computer and save the video to your jump drive and then you can view and share your video.

2. Be aware of lighting. Be sure you are in a well lit room or the video that you are trying to capture will likely not turn out very well. Be sure the light source is in front of your subject.

3. Make sure the camera is in a stable position. Tripods guarantee that the camera will not move and if you have a video that will be more than a few minutes long I highly suggest this or you will have one sore arm.

4. Using a cameras built in microphone. If you are using a cameras built in microphone be sure the your subject is close enough so that you can hear them clearly. Audio is very critical in a video recording.

5. Be aware of background noise or music. Be careful of any load music or noise that might be in the background while recording your video that might drown out your content. If you are going to add music to your video it is better to do it in the editing stage vs. during the video and also beware of licenses on music get permission from the artist before adding they will be glad to do it for recognition.

6. Just have fun. Just have fun with it the more nervous you are chances are it will show in your video.

7. Beware of shadows. If you are filming outside try not to stand with the sun at your back. You'll end up with a dark shadow in the video.

8. After you film each clip check it. Nothing worse then filming the whole video and finding out that you have a large section that is unusable. Check the clip make sure its error free and continue filming.

Reflecting..

Nine points to reflect
I come back to check on my blog blog once a day to reply to anybody that responds. I try to keep post short and simple people dont come on here to read a novel. And design is important I think of myself as kind of girly so PINK it is. I also try not to get to technical with my terms I would want a a child to be able to understand what i'm trying to say. The better the heading the more likly the person is to continue to read on. Overthinking othen times leads to over wording and too long of a post. Just say what you need and get the main points down and include pictures to catch the eyes of your readers. The purpose of my blog is just inform people of things I've found interesting and to share with others.

My audio podcast

When creating a podcast here are some main questions to consider.
1. Why am I creating the content I am creating? I choose a how to instuctions because I am concerned with saving money as I am a single parent of 2 boys and a full time student.
2. Who is my audience? My audience would be my instuctor and any of my classmates that view my blog or anybody that decides to have a look at my blog.
3. What do I want the content to achieve? I want the content to teach somebody that has never before waxed their eyebrows at home to be able to follow the steps and the outcome to be positive.
4. When and how are you going to develop content? I creaded my podcast today in class using Audacity and publishing it to my Podbean account. I had to convert the file from a Wave file to a MP3 file first for it be be a success.
5. Where are you going to publish? Explain why you selected this option. I published on Podbean because my group and I already had the account from our pervious assignment on how to create a podcast.

When creating my podcast I used a microphone and the Audacity software. I of course used my voice which I already have. I also needed to use Zamzar.com to convert my file to a Mp3 file as well. There were only 13 steps in my how to process so keeping the time to a minimun wasn't a problem at all. I had about six minutes total. I already had the Podbean account so publishing was a breeze. Make sure to edit your podcast to remove any ums or ahs or breaks in speech to just tighten up the cast.

Also to view my Podcast here is the link to Podbean.com screen name Fantasticfour http://fantasticfour.podbean.com/2012/04/10/eyebrow-waxing-at-home/

There are 9 main points to consider when creating a successful podcast here are just a few of those to help you along:

1.) Be sure to listen before you record. Do a little research and listen to some examples of podcasts to see the different types before creating your podcast.

2.) Use music wisely. You will be in violation of copyright laws if you use commercial music or something from your CD collection. Many musician's would likely love to work with you for the exposure it would bring them.

3.) Editing is your friend. Take time to listen to what you recorded and edit anything that needs editing. Get rid of any pauses and dead space.

4.) Keep length in mind. Best to keep it under 30 minutes. Some of course can be longer but for immediate release under 30 minutes is best.

5.) Submit to iTunes. Apples iTunes is the prremier place to be listed. Its the most popular. Be prepared for a 2-week lag time before you are listed.

6.) You likely already have the equipment you need. You only need a microphone most computers have built in if not they don't cost too much. Audacity.com is a great recording software that is free.

Podcasting

Creating a podcast is informational and fun to use. There are an endless list of things to use a podcast for. examples being: how to do something, radio broadcast, marketing, inspiration talk and many more topics. to create a podcast use audacity and then convert the file from a wave file to an Mp3 on Zamzar.com file and then publish it Podbean.com

Twitter in 2012!

I have used twitter before my communication technologies class and now in class and I enjoy it. it connects you the average person with the more popular famous people of the world. with their everyday comments and updates. It's a fun and informational place to go to. I sometimes am able to find out news there instead of watching tv since I don't have cable. Follow me on Twitter https://twitter.com/ @jayvsmama13
